ADNY - Never Leave You Remixes (Turbo)
Taken from ADNY’s album (also on Turbo) compiling some of his earlier Deep House works where ‘Never Leave You’ was one of the highlights. On remix duty are Steve Bug, Joel Mull & Steve Rachmad, and Mateo Murphy together with the original for those who did not get the album. The original is quite a hard and driving, yet bassy, deep and spatial Tech-House affair without a hint of cheese (that plagues this genre today). Hard beats overlaid with clear pads and delayed synth stabs giving rise to some cool vocal samples (viz. the title of the track etc.). Mull & Rachmad are first up and offer a slightly Electro tinged broken-beat Techno interpretation that is far more stripped down than the original, but yet retains all the feel of the original. Second, Mateo Murphy (who also records for Canada’s Turbo imprint) turns in a very predictable, linear and uninspiring take on the original that’s adds a little sub-bass, but is best skipped. Poker Flat’s Steve Bug takes a more minimal and laid-back approach, but adds plenty of bleep and squelch (as well as making the bass-line growl slightly) that Force tracks fans should appreciate. An excellent single with some good interpretations of an original that is just never outclassed. Worth buying just for the original should you not already own it
