Adult. - Hand to Phone Remixes (Clone)
A rare opportunity here for Adult. to be remixed instead of remixing! They return to the ever stronger Dutch Clone label to have probably their finest work torn apart and reconstituted by electronic dogs 2 from guests, and 2 of their own devising. Their own first very little has really been done, other than to make them a little more user friendly to the more dodgy DJs out there, which sadly has the effect of removing a lot of the interest that made the original so appealing for those of you who missed that one though, this is a second chance to pick up on one of the best electro tunes of recent years but look for the original if you can. Carl Craig steps up to the plate on the reverse, with an interesting blend of his older, 69 style techno and more recent European electro. Very crisp and sharp, its a good reminder that Carl is still capable of writing solid techno as well as his deeper work, but the breakdown and vocal samples from the original seem to be tacked on at the last minute, and the whole work feels like something he had already written and then decided to use as a mix Any criticism of this EP is swiftly removed by the final mix however. Mat-101 turns in a stunning funk fuelled workout, earning the cut its 4/5! - heavy and bassy, he splices up the vocal with plenty of effects, adds a driving slap bass stab, and constantly builds the piece into a furious climax of analog nastiness superb stuff. All in all, it was such a fine track that it was always going to be tough call to remix, but it did spawn some interesting results.
