Eddie Richards - Another      (Soco)

Mr. Richards sticks his oar in once again with a contribution to that most maligned of genres, tech-ass; fear not though, for Evil Eddie has a pedigree that most of the thinly disguised prog thugs that saturate (or should that be Fabricate?) the pages of DJ magazine would sell their Halo and Hipp-E collections for. As such, we have hear an interesting but slightly mixed bag, shining on the minimal acidic remix of Hakan Libdo’s ‘Sinful Sadie’ but only simmering on the laid-back ‘xtrck’. The bumpin’ old-schoolish garage of ‘D.comm’ fairs better, sounding a bit like a soundclash between early Todd Edwards and a disco-loving Top Cat, whilst ‘Someday’ effectively utilises those subdued E chords and ‘Can U Feel it?’ vocals that tech-housers never seem to tire of . Decent gear, if that’s yer bag, but not quite as slamming as his recent ‘Yeyo’ on Lunar Tunes – at this rate, though, it won’t be long before his reputation as a producer matches his legendary DJ status.
