Arne Weinberg - Cupola      (Keynote)

Our close friend Arne Weinberg returns to the essential Dutch deep techno label Keynote (formerly Ground Zero) to provide another stunning EP ahead of his debut full album to grace this label early next year. In preparation for that, he presents here a more dancefloor orientated cut than we’ve heard of late, combining his unique dark and melancholic melodies over driving, tough beats and Detroit tinged rhythmic stabs. ‘Black Flower’ and ‘Engaged’ provide the most dynamic and energetic moments here with their pushing bass grooves and repetitive synth hits, interspersed with subtle, haunting tones; whilst ‘Nothingness in Their Eyes’ and ‘Persistence in Time’ work more around the melodies, utilising shifting delay patterns, minimal square wave riffs and house-y 909 drums to generate and hone the odd, engaging atmospheres that seem so individual to this producer.
