Dave Tarrida - Scream Therapy EP      (Tresor)

Reviewed here with particular reference to 'Missing Law Rain'. Quirky deep house with screaming pad sweeps that drive the track around flipping beats and fucked up noises. The bass is huge and seems too stab whenever it feels like it. Deliberate double beats and reversed samples underneath sturdy house percussion make this track original and interesting, as well as beautifully sublime. Like a Nightingale stuck in a thorn bush. The rest of the four tracks follow on in terms of quirkiness, but would probably be too hard and quirky (although interesting mind you) for most techno DJ's at the moment. Experimental techno as we have come to expect from someone who records for Christian Vogel's Sativae label. Standouts on the techno side of things are 'Hell Toupe' with its Laurent Garnier style analogue bass, military percussion and fucked up delays, and 'Cause to Worry' with its Electro percussion and deep, pure sinewave bass. All excellently produced, but only for those with a more open mind.
